Wanderings of a well-travelled woman

I am a freelance journalist, author & blogger with a focus on slow travel: getting to know a place through its people, properties and design. I do press work for Black Label Properties, providing info about Berlin for people who are looking to relocate to the city full or part-time. I'm happiest on the road taking photos and blogging and have a 10-year-old daughter who is soon to go on exchange to an international school in China.

At 25, I left the UK to go backpacking for a year around Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the US. During that time, I worked for Foxtel TV, Sydney, did various stints on farms and ashrams and cut my teeth in journalism by writing for budget travel magazines. When I returned to the UK, I won a scholarship to study magazine journalism at Emap (Country Walking) and have been working in the industry ever since. This year's trips include Plymouth, New Hampshire, Perugia, Italy for the International Journalism Festival, and a two-week road trip around France. View my portfolio here:

We have worked with Nicci for a number of years on proof reading our prospectuses. Nicci has always offered a professional and thorough approach to her work and is super-efficient, working to our often tight deadlines with a very quick turnover. Always a pleasure!

“Nicci Talbot has been a wonderful help to me behind the scenes particularly with social media and publicising Alquemie Artisan Perfume very effectively. As a journalist she has her fingers on the publishing pulse and has been enormously helpful with social media - leaving me free to get on with what I’m best at. Nicci is quietly supportive, professional, focused and clear and gets on with the job. I recommend her whole-heartedly.”
— Rosie Harness, Alquemie Artisan Perfume
Nicci provided great work, on time and with great communication. No editing necessary which was brilliant.
— Mary Dunning - We Like to Work
Nicci has been amazing for me. She has helped me with social media and my newsletters. Her writing is always interesting and clear and she has helped grow my online presence with her support. She is also reliable and delivers what she says she will which makes it easier for me to relax and trust. Thank you, Nicci.

I hired Nicci for an ongoing project, which has now been running for some time, and find her to be talented, reliable, and hardworking. I completely trust her expertise and knowledge, and will definitely use her in the future for forthcoming projects.
— Karina Evans, Copywriter & Social Media Editor, The Word Whisperer
Nicci Talbot asked me to give a talk to members of the St Leonards Salon, on the subject of blogging and social media. She expertly handled all the promotion and organising of the event, and there was an excellent turnout, with an engaged audience and lively discussion. I was able to sell copies of my books and generate interest in my forthcoming courses for writers at New Writing South. All in all a successful evening.
